People often ask how Virtual Tees can provide three-day service, reproduce business logos with virtually unlimited colours without charging extra setup fees, and print as few as one garment at a reasonable price. The answer is DTF, or Direct-to-Film printing, one of the most versatile advances in custom apparel decoration.
The process begins by printing your design in full colour onto a specialized transfer film. A layer of white ink is added behind the artwork so colours remain bright and accurate on garments of any colour. A powdered adhesive is applied and cured onto the printed design, creating a finished transfer. The garment is then placed on a professional heat press, where controlled heat and pressure permanently bond the design to the fabric.
Because the artwork is produced digitally, DTF printing does not require separate screens for every colour. That means we can reproduce detailed logos, fine lettering, gradients and full-colour artwork without the traditional setup costs associated with screen printing. It also makes production efficient for a single garment, a small reorder or a larger run. This is one of the main reasons we can offer no minimums and fast three-day service.
DTF transfers work exceptionally well on cotton, polyester, cotton-poly blends and many popular performance and workwear fabrics. The finished print is vibrant, flexible and highly durable. When properly cared for, it can withstand repeated washing while retaining its colour and fine detail.
